Most of my work is spent working for a charity called Rock2Recovery. We work with military veterans, many of whom are recovering from PTSD.
Everyday I see the effects that traumatic events can have on people and everyday I see people find liberation from the fear, hyper-vigilance, sleep issues, and intruding memories and thoughts. Change is possible.
Overcoming PTSD is about getting on a learning curve. Discovering how your mind works, becoming more empowered, and discovering how traumas can be put in the past.
Unfortunately, social anxiety affects a lot of us. You may get fearful, panic, not know what to say, play conversations over and over in your head, and avoid social situations, or maybe all of the above.
Whether this happens to you in a meeting at work, dating, out with friends or in another social situation, life gets much easier when you've overcome social anxiety.
Most people don't believe me when I say this, but I have overcome chronic social anxiety myself, I have a sense of what you are going through, and have coached many people to overcome it, too.
Fears & Phobias
You probably think it's not rational or logical, but you panic and feel out of control in a situation where everyone around you seems fine. You know it shouldn't be necessary to feel the way you do, but you can't help it. For some people it might be around flying in a plane or public speaking, for another person it happens with spiders or bees.
These fears can be overcome and put into the past. You no longer need to live with the worrisome thoughts, embarrassment, or inconvenience of having an unnecessary fear or phobia.
